Pixel 9a leaks with a noticeable design change

Google is a company that updates the design of its products with almost every new generation, and the changes don't just focus on smaller frames or reduced thickness. With the Pixel 9, which launched not long ago, we saw a bit of a design change, and if you thought that the Pixel 9a would carry over the design of the base flagship model, then that's not entirely true, as renders make clear have been leaked online. Trusted leaker OnLeaks and AndroidHeadlines have teamed up to bring us renders of it Pixel 9athe upper mid-range phone that will probably replace the Pixel 8a as one of the cheapest phones. As leaked images of a pre-production device suggested, the new phone will forgo the camera bar of its predecessor.

In the renderings shared online, the Pixel 9aThe design looks like a mix Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Gone is the camera bar that stretched across the top width of the Pixel 8a. It's been replaced with a Google Search-shaped camera island that doesn't protrude and instead sits flush with the back of the phone. The LED flash was placed outside the bar.

Other design aspects remain largely unchanged, the phone still features rounded corners and there is still a camera cutout in the display.

The phone is still a long way off, and logic dictates that it will be announced in May 2025 during Google's I/O conference. The specs are currently unknown, but it will likely stick with the same 6.1-inch screen as the Pixel 8a.

Like other recent A-series phones, this is too Pixel 9a will likely have the same Tensor G4 as Google's premium phones under the hood. It is also possible that the battery is larger than that Pixel 8a4,492mAh cell.

The Pixel 9a will reportedly be Google's last phone with a Samsung-made chip, as the G5 is rumored to be a fully custom chip that would be made by TSMC, which also makes chips for Apple and Qualcomm, rather than Samsung.
