Teen arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in Orange that killed a woman and seriously injured her daughter – Orange County Register

An 18-year-old man was in custody on suspicion of aggravated intoxication manslaughter after he allegedly caused an accident at an intersection in Orange on Sunday evening, September 29, which left a mother dead and her daughter critically injured was injured, authorities said.

A man and another juvenile were hospitalized in serious condition but were stable, Orange police said.

Xitlama did not have a valid driver's license with him, Lt. Phil McMullin. He was identified by a Mexican passport he held, he said.

He was taken to hospital after the accident but was not seriously injured.

A breath test showed his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, police said.

The mother sat in the passenger seat of the Rav4 and her daughter sat behind her, police said, while the man drove and the other teen sat behind the driver's seat.

Police have not released any further information about the woman pending notification of her relatives.
