Tuscaloosa police charge woman with attempted murder in stabbing

Police in Tuscaloosa have arrested a woman after she allegedly stabbed another woman multiple times early Sunday morning.

Capt. Jack Kennedy, commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers responded to the Running Brook Apartments on Cypress Creek Avenue East to reports of a stabbing around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

They found a woman who had been stabbed multiple times but was expected to survive her injuries, Kennedy said.

A second woman, 26-year-old Dee Age Jer Tyteona Jemison, was arrested at the scene and ultimately charged with the stabbing.

Kennedy said the two women allegedly had a physical argument at a local club shortly before the stabbing, and the violence at the apartment complex was a result of that altercation.

Jemison was charged with attempted murder and taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, where her bond was set at $30,000.

It is the only incident of violence reported during what is expected to be the busiest weekend of the year in Tuscaloosa.
