The search for the 2024 World Series begins Tuesday as the final games of the MLB regular season come to a close. With only a few games left to play, spots still need to be determined before the playoff round can be finalized.

The American League playoffs will be decided with the New York Yankees, Cleveland Guardians and Houston Astros each securing the top three spots, with the Yankees and Guardians receiving byes in the first round. The Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals have secured the three wild card spots.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, who have the best record in the major leagues after using more than 40 different pitchers this season, earned the No. 1 seed and secured home-field advantage. The Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres have secured the second through fourth spots in the National League, with the No. 2 Phillies joining the Dodgers with a first-round bye.

But there are still two playoff spots that need to be resolved.

New York Yankees center fielder Aaron Judge celebrates with right fielder Juan Soto (22) after hitting a two-run home run against the Baltimore Orioles.
