Two teens arrested after SUV crashes into Milwaukee apartment

A police chase ended with a stolen car crashing into a west side apartment building after demolishing a bus stop. The accident occurred Sunday evening near 27th Street and Highland Boulevard in Milwaukee. Milwaukee police reported attempting to stop a reckless driver. Posey said he was at his home Sunday evening when a white SUV drove into his building. “We heard a loud noise and then we felt the bang. The building shook a little bit,” Mark Posey said. Witnesses told 12 News that a driver was speeding south on 27th Street near Kilbourn. The driver broke through and destroyed a bus stop before continuing into the building. “I saw a person lying on the grass. The car was smoking and it was just chaos. We also saw a person, a person running away,” he said. Milwaukee police said they arrested the 17-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger. Paramedics took both to a hospital to be treated for their injuries. On Monday, glass was strewn across the intersection and tire tracks led all the way to the Highland Court Apartments. MCTS replaced the bus stop Monday morning. A woman who lives nearby says that people drive way too fast at this intersection. “And you say this happens quite often?” 12 Messages asked. “Yes I do, yes ma’am. When you do that, you hear them loud all the time,” Tammy Toomb said.
