The road was closed in Henry County due to a large gas leak, officials said

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A major road in Henry County is closed and a business along the road is being evacuated due to a “large gas main leak,” officials said Monday afternoon.

Henry County Emergency Management and Homeland Security (EMA) said it and Henry County Fire Rescue issued “an urgent alert” about the leak at the Navy Federal Credit Union building at 1835 Jonesboro Road in McDonough.

The Henry County EMA said they were evacuating the building “and possibly other businesses in the area.”

“Currently we have reached a cap on gas,” EMA officials said in a statement.

They said Jonesboro Road was closed in both directions between Mount Olive Road and Mill Road. They are asking people to avoid the area.

Henry County Fire Rescue is monitoring the situation, EMA officials said.
