The murder suspect's brother was arrested for hindering arrest by possessing police body armor

Beaumont police confirm they have arrested a convicted felon accused of hiding his younger brother, who is now accused of murdering Ebonie Gilbert. Ricky Turner, 40, is not only facing charges for hindering arrest because he took body armor from police during an earlier car break-in.

Police arrested 21-year-old Javonta Turner on Sunday. He is one of three suspects now charged with the murder of 39-year-old Ebonie Gilbert in a car break-in Thursday outside her north Beaumont home.

Beaumont Police Department Personal Crimes Detectives executed an evidentiary search warrant at a residence at 4150 Maida in connection with the ongoing homicide investigation. According to police, investigators during the search arrested Javonta Turner, who was hiding at the location.

In addition, investigators recovered police body armor that had been stolen in an earlier car break-in. As a result, Ricky Turner was arrested for hindering the apprehension of a fugitive and possession of body armor by a felon.
