The shots fired lead to an attempted murder charge

SAFFORD – An argument is believed to have escalated into an attempted murder.

According to a news release from the Graham County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred on Wednesday, September 25, at approximately 10:56 p.m. A caller said he had been shot by a man he identified as “Jeremy” and that the suspect was quiet in the area.

Officers found the suspect, identified as Jeremy Bowman, 39, in a nearby ditch.

The victim, who was covered in blood from injuries to his head, torso and arms, said those injuries were caused by Bowman before Bowman fired a shot that struck the victim's apartment. A search of the apartment revealed bullet holes and a .22 revolver.

A witness said she heard Bowman threatening to “kill” the victim and that Bowman attacked her by taking her phone.

After being taken into custody, Bowman was taken to Mt Graham Regional Medical Center for treatment of a swollen hand. He was subsequently taken to the Graham County Jail where he was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, endangerment and other misdemeanor charges related to the incident.

Bowman is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
