PHOTOS: Three injured in accident that sent vehicle crashing through storefront Monday

CASPER, Wyo. — Three people were transported to the hospital Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash on East Second Street, in which one vehicle drove through the front of an unoccupied commercial space.

The call came in at 2:58 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, according to Casper Police Department Officer Darren Douglas, who spoke to Oil City News at the scene. Second Street was closed in both directions between Grant and Lincoln streets as of 4:23 p.m

Preliminary information indicates the black vehicle was traveling south on Lincoln St. and attempting to cross Second Street when it was struck by a westbound Dodge Charger. A witness, who said he saw a video shared by the business owner, said the impact flipped the black passenger and ultimately sent him flying backwards through the storefront.

Douglas said the speed of the charger is being investigated as a possible factor.

The extent of the injuries is unknown. Douglas said it was fortunate that no eastbound vehicles were affected during the high traffic hour. It was also fortunate that the affected business premises were empty and were being renovated, he said.
