Teen arrested, mistakenly released from juvenile hall

A teenager arrested for an attempted robbery was wrongly released from juvenile hall last week, according to Seattle police.

Seattle police officers arrested a 13-year-old boy in the West Queen Anne neighborhood on Friday, September 27th.

According to police, the 13-year-old tried to rob a 12-year-old of his bicycle. The suspect reportedly threatened the victim with a knife, and this occurred on the grounds of a local middle school.

Officers located the 13-year-old boy's home and arrested him for robbery investigations. The teen was later booked into the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children & Family Justice Center.

The next day, September 28, police were informed that the teenager had been accidentally released from juvenile detention. It is currently unclear how/why the teenager was mistakenly released.

Without a warrant from the court, officers were unable to take the teenager back into custody.

The criminal police of the SPD robbery department are continuing to investigate this case.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
