A Miami Gardens man was arrested on molestation charges after doctors treated a 3-year-old with liver damage, police said

MIAMI GARDENS, Florida — Police arrested a Miami Gardens man Friday after investigators said he was responsible for abusing his girlfriend's 3-year-old son so much that he caused liver damage.

According to an arrest report from the Miami Gardens Police Department, the investigation into 25-year-old Oscar Cedell Miller began in late May after the child's mother took the boy to a Fort Myers hospital.

Shortly before she traveled with the children to southwest Florida to visit her parents on May 25, the boy “began complaining of stomach pains,” police said.

An arrest report states that she thought it was gas and “thought nothing more of it.” However, when they arrived in Fort Myers, the boy continued to complain of stomach pains and his mother sought medical attention at a children's hospital there.

“It was suspected that the victim had bloating or constipation issues, so treatment began,” the report said. “The victim continued to complain of pain, which required further examination of the victim’s abdominal area. Medical staff noted that the victim had lacerations to his liver, indicating physical trauma to the area.”

According to the report, the woman told investigators that she had left Oscar two days earlier to look after the children, “and when she came home during her lunch break, the victim stated that he was scared and wanted to leave with her.” “

“At that time she left the home with all three children. While in the car, she noticed bruising on the left side of the victim's face,” the report states. “(The mother) asked the victim what happened and the victim responded that Oscar hit him in the stomach with a closed fist.”

During a May 29 interview with staff at the Children's Advocacy Center of South Florida, police said the boy said his “tummy needed medication” and that Miller “stomped on my stomach with his foot.”

Police said the boy said Miller “was mean to him” at the time.

Authorities said they spoke with Miller on Friday and he told investigators that the 3-year-old “pooped on the floor and yelled at him to discipline him, but never hit the child.”

He claimed his girlfriend was “upset” that he yelled at the children and moved out the next day, the report said.

Miami-Dade court records show Miller was released from jail on $10,000 bail.
