An Iowa man has been arrested in Illinois and accused of assaulting a teenager

Shawn Carrell, 28, is charged with two counts of sexual assault, violating a protective order and harboring a runaway.

PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – An Iowa man was arrested in Peoria, Illinois, after officials say he harbored and sexually abused a 15-year-old runaway.

On Saturday, September 28, the Lee County Sheriff's Office in Iowa notified the Peoria County Sheriff's Office of a missing 15-year-old juvenile who was the subject of a missing endangered persons report. According to this report, the teenager was most recently with 28-year-old Shawn M. Carrell.

Peoria County officers were notified that the juvenile's phone was ringing in the area and that the two were possibly in a white Dodge Ram. Officers began searching the area and located the ram, the juvenile and two adult men – one of whom was Carrell – at a gas station on Lincoln Street in Peoria. Officials said the teen was found safe.

Carrell and 19-year-old Ian J. Fifer were both arrested and charged. Carrell was charged with two counts of sexual assault, violating a protective order and harboring a runaway.

Fifer was arrested and charged with harboring a runaway and child pornography.
