The jury is considering the interaction on the Divisadero overpass as part of evidence in the murder trial

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — An image from body camera video was called into question Monday as a Fresno County jury tries to unravel events on the Divisadero overpass in downtown Fresno more than three years ago.

A Fresno police helicopter was also taking a photo of the scene as Isaac Jackson's friend Terrell was taking him to Community Regional Medical Center when he flagged down an officer and told him Jackson had been shot.

“I had seen a motorcycle officer, so I thought I would stop him and let him know what was going on,” Terrell told the jury Monday.

As the officer tried to help Jackson into the passenger seat, a single video image shows Terrell getting up from the driver's seat and talking to his wife, who had been driving behind him.

“Did you tell her to stay back and not look at what was in the vehicle?” prosecutor Kendall Reynolds asked. “Yes, sir,” Terrell said.

What happened next, the part that wasn't seen on video, is now the focus of a murder trial.

Prosecutors have charged Tywain Robinson with murder and attempted murder. They say he shot Terrell and killed Jackson.

“All I hear is bam,” Terrell testified about the shooting.

Robinson pleaded not guilty to both charges.

It is self-defense. Robinson said he feared for his life because the two men had a gun when they knocked on his apartment door.

According to investigators, there is no evidence that another weapon or other shots were fired.

But Robinson's public defender, Scott Baly, is building his case around that important video image.

The attorney says Terrell could have handed the gun to his wife during that interaction on the bridge.

However, the body camera did not capture the entire interaction and Terrell denies ever having a weapon.

“Did you ever give her a gun?” Reynolds asked. “No, sir,” Terrell said.

He says Robinson continued shooting at his car as he tried to drive away

Robinson is expected to take the stand in his defense in the coming days.
