Frankie Valli Breaks Silence After Performance Videos Raise Concern (Exclusive)

Frankie Valli speaks out.

The 90-year-old Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons crooner went viral on social media last week, sparking concern among fans over some of his recent performances.

In a statement shared exclusively with PEOPLE on Monday, September 30, Valli said, “I know there's been a lot of talk about me on the internet lately, so I wanted to set the record straight. I'm blessed to be 90 years old and I'm still going to do what I love to do and as long as I'm able and the audience wants to see me, I'll be out there doing what I always love to do. And I know we’re doing a great show because our fans still come out in droves and the show still rocks.”

Valli added: “How do we do the show?! The Four Seasons sound has always been about layering vocals and instruments. We use our 60 years of experience to make us sound like the records. I sing, I have singers who sing, great arrangements….everything. I laugh when I wonder if anyone has ever forced me to go on stage.

The statement concluded: “I plan to keep doing shows and delivering the great Four Seasons sound for as long as possible. Like this line.” Jersey boysI'm like the rabbit on TV that always runs and runs and runs. Chasing the music.

The craze began when videos of current shows began circulating on TikTok. In one video, Valli appears in the background choreographing his hit “December 1963 (Oh What a Night).” “He needs to rest!” One viewer commented on the post, while another concerned commenter called the situation “very sad.”

Elsewhere, in a clip from a separate performance of “Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby, Goodbye),” Valli appears to miss some of the lyrics, leading to speculation of a lip sync. One fan commented: “He looks exhausted.” Another added: “I really want someone to check on him.”

Valli, who celebrated his 90th birthday in May, has an active performing schedule. His tour is currently scheduled through April 2025 and has also played residencies in Las Vegas in recent years.

Taking to social media on Sunday, September 29, rocker Lenny Kravitz, 60, shared a selfie with Valli and wrote, “Just ran into the legendary Frankie Valli at the airport. Nothing but respect for you, sir. Endless hits and still touring.” Young at 90. Love!

The TikTok controversy comes four months after Valli's three-year restraining order against his son Francesco, 36, was lifted.

After an April 29 hearing in Los Angeles, a judge signed a protective order for Frankie and his son Emilio against Francesco, who are not allowed to contact Valli or Emilio and must stay at least 100 meters away from their homes and workplaces.

Emilio, 29, previously said in documents obtained by PEOPLE that he and Frankie feared for their safety after Francesco attempted to forcibly enter his famous father's estate in April. The filing states that while Francesco waited for law enforcement to arrive after the burglary attempt, he “repeatedly physically threatened” to harm or kill Frankie and Emilio, which the family says has been “a pattern since then.” several months”.

Valli is married to former CBS marketing executive Jackie Jacobs, 61. The couple tied the knot in Las Vegas in June 2023.
