Maryland double murder suspect arrested in Miami Beach

MIAMI BEACH, Fla — Weeks after a horrific murder in Maryland in which police say the killer fired more than four dozen shots, authorities have arrested the suspect in Miami Beach.

Investigators say an angry ex drove over 1,000 miles to commit the crime. Police found evidence at a Miami Beach apartment Saturday that led to an arrest.

According to investigators, Crimea Baker and Sean Lange were shot multiple times on August 27 by Baker's ex-husband, 33-year-old David Turner.

Police believe Turner broke into her home in New Market, Maryland, and fired at least 42 shots.

“We believe that sometime after 1 a.m., before 1:25 a.m., Turner entered the back door of the residence and murdered her and Mr. Lange in bed in the bedroom, firing more than 42 shots,” Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said. Maryland.

Inside at the time were Baker's children, who were not injured in the shooting but hid for hours before calling police.

“I’ve never seen anything like it, it was really incredible,” Jenkins added.

Jenkins said Turner drove from Miami Beach to Maryland to kill the couple.

It would take weeks for the FBI and Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale police to handcuff Turner after search warrants were obtained for his car and his Miami Beach apartment, as well as a inconsistent alibi.

The video shows a SWAT team entering the Miami Beach building on West Avenue. The police said they found evidence there to issue the arrest warrant. Investigators believe it may have been a crime of passion that had a domestic connection.

“I can’t think of any explanation that would have justified something like that,” Jenkins said.

Turner will soon be extradited to Maryland to face two counts of first-degree murder and trespassing. He was being held in the Broward County Jail.

Baker's family has set up a GoFundMe page for the children, who are now left without their mother.
