Woman accused of crashing into a damaged sedan on Loop 202, killing a man

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A woman is facing charges after investigators said she crashed into a stopped car on a Phoenix highway following a separate accident early Sunday morning, killing a man.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, 48-year-old Nereyda Ontiveros Valenzuela was traveling westbound in a Dodge Ram on State Route 202 near 24th Street in the HOV lane when she crashed into a Nissan Sentra around 2 a.m that was on the same lane :45 p.m

According to police, the sedan was damaged due to a previous accident and was unable to move.

The driver of the Sentra, 21-year-old Francisco Ortiz Lopez, was ejected from the car and died.

Valenzuela was taken to the hospital and faces charges of manslaughter and endangerment.

DPS did not say whether she was speeding or impaired.

Arizona's family is working to obtain court documents for further details.
