Lynchburg shooting suspect charged, woman found dead in suspect's home

A man is in custody after the shooting of a 19-year-old in Lynchburg Monday evening, Lynchburg police said. Police said they also found the body of a woman during a welfare check at the suspect's home.

The incident occurred on Monday around 3:45 p.m. in the 100 block of Fairlea Court.

According to LPD, 19-year-old Cash Gaudio was shot. Nathaniel Lee Pridemore, 33, of Lynchburg, has been charged in the incident.

During the course of the investigation, Lynchburg police said they determined a welfare check was necessary at Pridemore's home. When officers conducted that stop in the 1400 block of Tunbridge Road, a woman was found dead.

Pridemore is charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm, felony endangerment of a child, discharging a firearm in the city, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, reckless handling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police said the child involved in the incident is safe and will be reunited with his family.

The department said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
