BTS's Suga was fined $11,500 for drunk driving on an electric scooter

A court in Seoul, South Korea, has imposed a fine BTS Band member Suga The equivalent of $11,500 for an incident on August 6 in which the K-pop star was caught driving an electric scooter under the influence. Suga was taken in for questioning by police in Seoul after he fell to the ground while riding an electric scooter near his home. Korean media had previously reported that Suga's blood alcohol concentration that night was measured at 0.227%. This value was well above the 0.08% threshold, which could have resulted in his driving license being revoked. Suga was apparently issued a “summary indictment” over the incident, in which a court “will impose a fine or confiscation in an expedited procedure without a full trial.” Suga immediately apologized on fan platform Weverse at the time of the incident and said he was sorry for letting his fans down.
