Authorities are preparing to announce a development related to the 1995 kidnapping of six-year-old Morgan Nick.

Alma Police Chief Jeff Pointer will discuss the development at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 1) at the Alma Police Department.

Morgan was abducted from the Little League baseball field in Alma on June 9, 1995. She attended the game with her mother, Colleen Nick, and was last seen playing with other children near the fields around 10:30 p.m. She disappeared shortly afterwards and despite extensive searches and investigations, her whereabouts remain unknown.

The case received national attention and remained active. The FBI, state and local police and private investigators worked the case and followed up on leads. Despite several possible breakthroughs over the years, including digs and arrests related to the case, Morgan has not been found.

Colleen Nick founded the Morgan Nick Foundation in 1996 to help families of missing children and raise awareness of child abduction.

“Still Missing Morgan,” a four-part documentary about the kidnapping, was released on Hulu in 2023.
