Vardaman man killed in Monroe County crash | Local

PRAIRIE, Miss. (WTVA) – A Vardaman man died after a head-on crash in Monroe County.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley identified the victim as Ramel Starks, 41.

The accident occurred Sunday evening, September 29, on Highway 45 Alternate near Wilson Hill Loop in Prairie.

One of the vehicles involved in the accident was reportedly driving in the wrong lane and the accident caused one of the vehicles to catch fire.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol said the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital for her injuries.

Pastor Calvin Chandler said he was among the few people who pulled a woman from the burning vehicle. He credited their heroic deeds with the grace of God.

A dog named Jade was thrown from the woman's vehicle in the accident and is missing.
