Arizona: Man arrested for voyeurism after hiding under women's cars

According to Fox 10 and AZ Family, a man was arrested in late August in Gilbert, Arizona after he allegedly crawled under several women's cars for sexual gratification.

Jesse Michael Johnson, 28, was allegedly caught on camera surveillance at a Super Star Car Wash in Gilbert on Thursday, August 29th.

Johnson, who has a history of sex crimes, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 24, and charged with three counts of voyeurism and three counts of disorderly conduct. He was held on $10,000 bail and is expected in court on October 3, according to Fox 10.

One of the alleged victims, who wanted to identify herself as Chanelle, had stopped at the car wash before taking her son to school. While he was there, Johnson allegedly poked his head out of the driver's side of Chanelle's car, according to surveillance footage. He then returned to his car and allegedly pretended to clean his tires.

She told AZ Family that she probably wouldn't have noticed what was happening if another customer hadn't pointed it out to him.

Johnson was reportedly seen doing this twice more that same day, to two different women.

“In these three incidents, the defendant parked next to the victim,” investigators wrote in court documents, according to Fox 10. “While each victim vacuumed their vehicle, the defendant hid under her SUV and spent several minutes under her vehicle.” The defendant climbed out from under the vehicle as each victim finished vacuuming and left the area.

“That's not okay. This is a place where you can wash your car. They should feel safe,” Reyes Brito, general manager of Super Star Car Wash, told AZFamily.

Chanelle told AZFamily, adding that she felt “very hurt” and was “having nightmares.”

“To go out into the community and do this to women is absolutely despicable and I don’t think he realizes what it does to us as victims,” she said.

“I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe I was in this situation. I had a baby just two weeks before. I have two other children. It was a very scary situation, especially with my little boy.” “I guess that's just a really good reminder: just to make sure you're always looking around and keeping your kids close because you just never know what can happen around you.”

Authorities in Arizona discovered that Johnson had a criminal history and had been arrested multiple times in Nebraska. According to court documents, he told law enforcement in the Midwest that he was “sexually attracted to the feet of women” and could not control “his sexual desires,” according to AZ Family.

In June 2016, Johnson was cited four times in Nebraska for allegedly hiding under cars and grabbing people by the ankles, KOLN/KGIN reported at the time. He was arrested for disturbing the peace and pleaded no contest. He was sentenced to two years probation, a $150 fine and a psychological evaluation.
