At the time of the shooting, Chesney was 19 years old. He was arrested at 4:31 a.m. the following day and initially held without bail.

However, on March 13, Magistrate Harry Stryffeler changed the bond conditions to $100,000 and Chesney was able to post the bond on March 14.

According to eCourts, James William Chesney and Nonya Brown Chesney, of the 1100 block of Pinehurst St., posted property as surety. The bonds totaled $67,914 and $32,086.

Stryffeler attached conditions to Chesney's bail that required electronic monitoring and that Chesney live with his parents with a 9 p.m. curfew unless there was a compelling reason not to be there. He also had to have proven employment.

Chesney has a disposition hearing scheduled for Nov. 20 in Lee County Superior Court.

According to a previous report from the Sanford Herald, police responded to the 800 block of Primrose Lane and found Wicker on the porch steps of the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
