The Weeknd and Playboi Carti release dark video for collaboration “Timeless”

The Weeknd and Playboi Carti have delivered the melodramatic visuals for their latest collaboration, “Timeless.”

“Timeless,” an all-star collaboration between the pair and producers Pharrell and Mike Dean, is noticeably moodier than “Dancing in the Flames,” the lead single from Abel’s upcoming album Hurry up tomorrow.

The Toronto native premiered the track with the help of Carti during a show in Brazil last month, then released it to streaming services on Friday (September 27) – where it racked up over 10 million streams in its first day.

In the video, the two are dressed all in black and change outfits on a dimly lit set. Occasionally they are joined by a few dancing women wearing far less clothing.

“In a place where the seasons never changed and where time ceased to exist. But therein lies the problem. Today has felt like an endless rotation. I constantly twist the truth, immune to the vertigo, numb to the nausea. What lies beneath – screams silently.”

The statement continued: “I look in the mirror and feel old and new at the same time, trapped in limbo and unable to move.” I still haven't confronted myself. More songs might help, but what else is left for me to say? Woe is me in my gilded cage, right?
