Baby found dead at Sophie's Cuban Cuisine restaurant in Lower Manhattan

LOWER MANHATTAN (WABC) – A newborn baby was found dead in the bathroom of a restaurant in Lower Manhattan on Monday morning.

The baby was found just before 10 a.m. at Sophie's Cuban Cuisine on Fulton Street

Investigators believe a woman gave birth in the restaurant's restroom sometime Sunday evening. The infant was discovered at the restaurant's opening on Monday.

Police responded to a 911 call and found the baby unconscious and unresponsive.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

Authorities are examining cameras in the area to determine who was in the restaurant.
