An Israeli official accuses the US of endangering IDF soldiers by sharing Lebanese ground operations plans

A senior Israeli official accused the US of endangering Israeli soldiers by leaking its plans for Israel's ground operation in Lebanon, The Times of Israel reported.

According to Kan News, the official on Monday called the US leaks “dangerous” and said they had put Israeli troops in danger.

“This happened despite the US supporting the operation,” the official said, adding, “but it is clear to us that the US is concerned – and that is why they have banned the operation to try to limit it.”

The official further said that “there will be no (diplomatic) agreement in Lebanon before the end of the operation.”

This comes amid reports that ministers in Israel's Political Security Cabinet were frustrated by news of their planned invasion leaking. Following the reports, an unnamed US security official yesterday confirmed to various news outlets an impending “limited” invasion of Lebanon.

Meanwhile, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said on Monday that Israel had “informed us that these are limited operations focused on Hezbollah's infrastructure near the border.”

On Monday, US President Joe Biden also told reporters he was “more aware than you might realize,” then added: “We should have a ceasefire now.”
