Police are investigating a murder in northwest Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – One person is dead and two others were hospitalized after an incident occurred in a mall parking lot in northwest Austin early Tuesday morning.

Austin police said they received “quite a few calls” reporting a shooting outside the North Brooke Plaza businesses around 2:45 a.m. This is on Research Boulevard near Jollyville Road.

When officers arrived two minutes later, they said they found two people with obvious signs of trauma. According to reports, despite life-saving measures, one person died at the scene of the accident.

According to police, the second victim was taken to the hospital. While officers were at the hospital, they reportedly made contact with a third victim who was injured in the incident.

Officials believe this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

This is being investigated as the 49th Austin homicide of 2024 and is the second Austin homicide investigation in less than 12 hours.
