What we know

Since 1995, Morgan's disappearance has become one of Arkansas' most infamous unsolved mysteries.

In 1995, Morgan and her family went to a little league baseball game in Alma to cheer on a friend. Towards the end of the night, Morgan was invited to catch fireflies with some friends. After playing for a while, her friends decided to leave, leaving Morgan alone. That was the last time anyone saw her.

For years, everyone from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to local police departments have been trying to solve the case. In 2021, the FBI thought it was closer than ever when it linked local World War II veteran and Crawford County native Billy Jack Lincks to Morgan's kidnapping.

Lincks, a Van Buren resident since the late 1970s, was caught trying to kidnap an 11-year-old girl 8 miles from the Wofford Baseball Field from which Morgan was abducted. Lincks' kidnapping attempt came just two months after Morgan's disappearance.

Lincks was convicted of sexual assault of a child and sentenced to prison, where he later died in 2000. However, it was only after his death that he was named as a suspect in Morgan's disappearance.
