At least 21 dead as Israel resumes attacks on Gaza | Israel attacks Lebanon news

At least seven people were killed after Israeli forces attacked a school housing displaced people in Gaza City.

The Israeli military has carried out a series of airstrikes in Gaza, killing at least 21 people, according to local officials.

Tuesday's attacks came as fighting intensified in the Palestinian enclave and new raids were carried out across the occupied West Bank. The resurgence of violence in the Palestinian territories comes as the world's attention is focused on the Israeli military's attack on Lebanon.

Thirteen people, including women and children, were confirmed dead in an overnight attack on two houses in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, Wafa news agency reported. Dozens of people were also injured in the attack.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the attack, but said in a statement that an airstrike on a compound that had previously served as a school in Gaza City targeted Hamas fighters operating from a command center.

In her statement, she accused Hamas of using the civilian population and facilities for military purposes. Hamas has consistently denied such accusations despite the war that has been going on since last October.

The Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza said the former Shujayea school housed displaced Palestinian families and that at least seven people were killed.

Two other Israeli strikes killed five Palestinians in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip and in the Gaza City suburb of Zeitoun. And in Khan Younis, in the south of the enclave, six people were killed in an attack on tents housing displaced people, medics said, although the incidents remain unconfirmed.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hamas' armed wings and other smaller militant factions said in separate statements that their fighters attacked Israeli forces operating in several areas of the Gaza Strip with anti-tank missiles, mortar fire and explosive devices.

The raids in the West Bank continue

According to Wafa, the Israeli military continues to carry out violent raids in the occupied West Bank, arresting at least 15 people.

In Nablus, a 25-year-old man died from his injuries after being shot in the thigh and stomach by soldiers in the Balata refugee camp, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, the village council of Kafr Nima called on Facebook for residents not to send students to school due to the presence of Israeli forces in the village.

Israeli forces have carried out widespread raids in the West Bank since the war on Gaza began almost a year ago. Since October 7, at least 719 people have been killed and more than 10,000 arrested.

Houthis target Israel

As Israel claimed its ground offensive was underway in Lebanon, Yemen's Houthis appeared to be stepping up their activities.

The Iran-backed group launched drone strikes on Israeli military posts in Tel Aviv and Eilat on Tuesday, the group's military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a televised address.

On Sunday, Israel launched airstrikes on the Yemeni city of Hodeidah after the Houthis reported a rocket attack on Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport.

Since November, the Houthis have carried out repeated attacks on Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians, including attacks on Israeli-linked ships.

Two ships suffered damage after they were hit by missiles and a maritime drone off the Yemeni port of Hodeidah early Tuesday, maritime security agencies and sources monitoring the area said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks.
