Two motorcyclists injured in accident in rural Iuka

The Marion County Sheriff's Department says it's unclear what happened Monday morning that injured two motorcyclists in the 5300 block of Foster Lane in rural Iuka.

One of the cyclists was found lying in a ditch after apparently being thrown from his bike. David White, 38, of Crabapple Drive in Flora, was flown from the scene to St. Louis University Hospital by an Air Evac medical helicopter. He was reportedly conscious at the time of his discovery and at the time of his transport.

The second cyclist was treated at the scene for road abrasions and declined hospital treatment. He was walking around when medical help arrived. His name has not been released.

Iuka Fire was called in to assist and set up the landing zone for Air Evac. United Medical was also on site.

The incident was first reported around 8:57 a.m. Monday morning.
