A 24-year-old is killed in an accident on the Acadia Highway in Orland, Maine

ORLAND, Maine — A man who worked as a construction worker in Orland died Tuesday after being hit by a pickup truck.

According to the news release, Clint Clagett, 70, of Bucksport, was traveling east on Acadia Highway when he approached a construction site. Charles Resh, 24, of Searsport, was working traffic control for the construction zone, allowing traffic to move east in the westbound lane because the eastbound lane was closed for paving, the sheriff's office said.

The truck struck Resh in the eastbound lane, the release said. According to the sheriff's office, Resh was taken by ambulance to Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The accident caused damage to the pickup's front bumper, grille and hood.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Bucksport Fire and Ambulance Service, Orland Fire Department, Hancock County District Attorney Robert Granger and Maine State Police also responded to the scene, the release said.

The sheriff's office said no further details would be released at this time.
