Cougar kills pet, then stalks family through window

A cougar recently stalked a family through glass windows after killing their pet cat. A video showing the mountain lion with blood-matted fur growling at a glass door in Alberta, Canada has gone viral. In the clip, a frightened woman talks to her small child while filming the cougar in the backyard through glass windows and doors.

An Instagram user named Jess (@leelowlemon), whose profile is private, recorded the video in her home. She submitted it to the Instagram account Nature Is Metal, which shares viral nature content. The video has more than 1.1 million likes.

In the video, Jess laments that the cougar killed “Oreo,” the family cat. She had to break the news to her child and asks the child not to look. At some point you see the mountain lion carrying the cat's limp body past the door.

“This mountain lion just killed the family cat, but instead of escaping into the woods with it, it decided to attack the family from the back patio,” Nature Is Metal writes in the video’s caption. “This mountain lion is still at large, but local fish and game dealers are still actively pursuing it.”
