Leavenworth teen accepts plea deal in drug possession and theft case

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) – An 18-year-old Leavenworth man has agreed to a global plea deal facing drug possession and theft charges.

Noah M. Day agreed to the plea deal Friday, Sept. 27, pleading no contest to one count of possession of fentanyl and no contest to one count of theft of a vehicle.

Court documents show that on February 16, Leavenworth police officers were dispatched to a call where the reporting party claimed that a person staying at his home was a suspected missing person. Officers arrived and identified Day as the individual and discovered he had active warrants for his arrest.

When officers took him into custody, Day told them he had contraband in his pockets and suggested that officers might want to “put gloves on” before searching him.

Officers then found two aluminum foil bundles containing a substance that a Kansas Bureau of Investigation laboratory identified as fentanyl.

On May 13, surveillance video showed Day carjacking a stolen truck from the Fairway Hills Apartments in Leavenworth. It was later recovered in the Woodland Village Apartments parking lot.

Day will be sentenced on November 1, 2024.
