Man dies in single-vehicle rollover in Jefferson County

BUTTE – A man died in a rollover accident north of Whitehall early Tuesday morning, October 1, 2024, according to the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP).

The MHP fatal crash report indicates that the 28-year-old Whitehall man was driving an Oldsmobile Bravada southbound on Whitetail Road (MT Highway 399) at approximately 3:34 a.m. when he failed to make it past mile marker 5 to overcome a left turn.

According to the report, the man drove off the right side of the road and ran twice, causing the vehicle to roll. The man was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown into the street. The vehicle left the road to the right and ended up in a ditch.

According to the MHP report, alcohol, drugs and speed are suspected to be factors in the accident.

The man was not identified in the report and no further details were released.
