One person has died in a tractor-trailer accident on Richardson Highway

SALCHA, Alaska (KTUU) – Alaska State Troopers have identified a 42-year-old man who died in a semi-truck accident on the Richardson Highway early Monday morning.

According to police, Salcha resident Temitayo Iyanu Kalejaiye was driving a four-door sedan and was exiting Tom Bear Trail onto Richardson Highway when he was struck by a semi-truck.

The report said Kelejaiye failed to yield to a stop sign before being struck.

Police were informed of the accident at 6:25 a.m. on Monday. When paramedics arrived at the scene, Kelejaiye was pronounced dead.

His body is being sent for an autopsy and next of kin have been notified.

The semi-truck belonged to Black Gold Transport and was unloaded at the time of the accident, according to the company's statement. KVTF reported that the commercial vehicle was an unloaded ore transporter used to transport ore between Manh Choh and Kinross Fort Knox.

The investigation is ongoing.
