The Penguins reveal their lineup for the second preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings

The postponement of Saturday's preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings to Monday means the team's second preseason game against the Red Wings on Tuesday completes a back-to-back series of games.

Three games in three days isn't ideal for any team, but such is life for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Both teams traveled from Detroit to Pittsburgh for Tuesday's contest. The puck drops at 7 p.m. and those interested can watch the game locally on SportsNet Pittsburgh. Fans can also tune in to 105.9 The X for radio coverage.

Below is the Penguins' projected lineup for Tuesday night's game.

Forward

2 – Rutger McGroarty
8 – Michael Bunting
11 – Vasily Ponomarev
13-Kevin Hayes
15 – Joona Koppanen
17 – Bryan Rust
19-Cody Glass
41 – Koivunen Town
44 – Jonathan Gruden
67 – Rickard Rakell
71 – Yevgeny Malkin
72 – Anthony Beauvillier
87 – Sidney Crosby

defense

4-Nathan Clurman
24 – Matt Grzelcyk
28 – Marcus Pettersson
38 – Owen Pickering
45 – Harrison Brunicke
58 – Kris Letang
82 – Filip Kral

goalkeeper

31 – Filip Larsson
35 – Tristan Jarry

McGroarty and Ponomarev appear to be the only holdovers from Monday night's lineup, as both prospects continue to make a case for a spot on the opening night roster.

Overall, it's a good mix of NHL regulars, promising young players and AHL-bound players. After that game against the Red Wings, the Penguins have two preseason contests left – a back-to-back set against the Columbus Blue Jackets on October 3 and 4 – before finalizing their roster before their regular season opener against the New York Rangers on October 9th.

Welcome to October, Penguins fans.
