Olivia Nuzzi's ex-fiancée will take a leave of absence from Politico after she was accused of extortion in connection with the RFK Jr. affair

Political editor Ryan Lizza is taking a leave of absence from Politico after he was accused of launching a campaign of harassment and blackmail against his former fiancée, star New Yorker magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi, his job said Tuesday night.

Lizza, co-author of the outlet's popular Playbook, and Politico bosses both agreed that he should step down from his position pending an investigation into the allegations, which first came to light in a court filing on Tuesday.

“POLITICO and Ryan Lizza have mutually agreed that it is in everyone’s best interest for him to resign and take a leave of absence pending an investigation,” the outlet told the Post in an email.

Nuzzi, 31, claims Lizza, 50, molested her after the couple's breakup — and during her tryst with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., CNN reported, citing court documents.

Lizza denied all allegations in a statement to The Post on Tuesday.

He did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday evening about the vacation.

Nuzzi was placed on leave by her employer last month after the affair between her and 70-year-old Kennedy came to light.

The two reportedly sexted each other during the affair, and sometime earlier this year, Nuzzi and Lizza called off their engagement.

Sources told Page Six last week that Nuzzi and Kennedy had “incredible” FaceTime sex after chatting via text message.

Nuzzi wrote a profile about the scion of the Democratic dynasty last November.

Nuzzi claimed in a court filing released Tuesday that Lizza “explicitly threatened to make personal information about me public in order to destroy my life, career and reputation – a threat he has since made good on,” CNN reported on Tuesday.

Nuzzi claimed Lizza began the harassment in early July to force her into a relationship with him again, and the following month he allegedly stole a personal electronic device and hacked her devices, the filing said.

He also allegedly anonymously leaked information about her to the media, although some of that information may have been “manipulated” to harm her, the filing said.

Nuzzi seemed to suggest that Lizza had disclosed her tryst with RFK in court documents.

She accused him of possibly tipping off “through a third party or an anonymous channel” to New York Magazine last month about what was described only as “the matter.”

Lizza told The Post earlier Tuesday that he was “saddened that my ex-fiancée is making a series of false accusations against me in an attempt to divert attention from her own personal and professional mistakes.”

“I firmly reject these allegations and will defend myself vigorously and successfully,” he said.

A judge reportedly issued a no-contact order on Tuesday ordering Lizza to stay away from Nuzzi – a common step in domestic disputes, CNN reported.

Lizza was ousted from the New Yorker in 2017 over what the publication called “inappropriate sexual contact,” although Lizza pushed back against that claim at the time.

“I am dismayed that The New Yorker has chosen to characterize a respectful relationship with a woman I dated as somehow inappropriate,” he said at the time, although the woman's lawyer dismissed that claim as nonsense.

Nuzzi's legal battle with Lizza in court comes as her magazine conducts a “more thorough third-party review” of Nuzzi's work after an internal investigation found no evidence of bias.
