Man arrested in Niagara town after stabbing Applebee

NIAGARA COUNTY, NY – Niagara City Police say an Applebee's employee at ECMC is recovering after being stabbed by a co-worker.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officers, the incident between the two men began in the kitchen before occurring outside the restaurant. When the police arrived, they stood in the middle and ordered the suspect to drop the knife.

Niagara City Police said when the suspect didn't listen, officers and Niagara County officers used stun guns, causing him to drop the knife and he was taken into custody.

The victim was airlifted to ECMC for multiple stab wounds to his upper body. He is expected to be fine, police said.

The suspect was also taken to ECMC for self-inflicted wounds to his hands.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Criminal Division is leading the investigation.
