Calvert's city clerk was arrested for tampering with government records

CALVERT, Texas (KBTX) – Calvert's city clerk was arrested last Thursday and charged with tampering with government records, KBTX has confirmed.

According to probable cause documents, 76-year-old Rose Jones intentionally issued a subpoena “without the effective consent or knowledge of the Calvert Municipal Judge.”

The documents state: “Jones dismissed a subpoena without the permission of the city judge and assessed a dismissal fee.”

According to the arrest report, the crime was documented on both June 25, 2024 and June 27, 2024.

KBTX spoke with Calvert's city manager on Tuesday to see if Jones was still employed, but did not receive a response or other information about the case.

Online arrest records from the Roberston County Sheriff's Office show Jones was arrested on Sept. 26 and released the same day.
