One killed in Daly City shooting, mother and son arrested

DALY CITY — One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting Sunday in Daly City, police said.

According to the Daly City Police Department, the shooting occurred in the 1300 block of South Mayfair Avenue around 7:10 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 60-year-old Daly City man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The San Mateo County Coroner's Office will release his identity once it has been confirmed and his next of kin has been notified.

The suspect left the scene before officers arrived but was later identified as Maarij Abdullah Afridi, 21, of Daly City, according to police.

On Monday, investigators and SWAT team members arrested Afridi without incident.

Afridi's mother, 50-year-old Zaib Un Nisa Afridi, was also identified as an accomplice in the murder, police said.

Both mother and son were booked into the San Mateo County Jail on felony charges, including first-degree murder.
