Courtney Williams sends Lynx past Sun in Game 2

Bang, bang. Now we have a one-game series that moves to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday night. And it's now a best-of-three.

There were collisions, battles for loose balls, stifling defense and a focus on taking each team's star — Alyssa Thomas for the Sun and Napheesa Collier for the Lynx — out of the game. Thomas had six points at halftime. Collier had five. Additionally, Collier did not attempt a field goal in the second quarter, going from three seconds left in the first quarter to 4:29 left in the third quarter without making a field goal.

Williams exploded for 11 points in the third, including back-to-back possessions in which she rallied from 17 for a basket, then sank a three-pointer – followed by a rebel roar from the Sun's bench. Moments later, an official had to intervene between Williams and Connecticut's Marina Mabrey – teammates with Chicago last season – as they insulted each other.

“Oh, we chatted,” Williams said. “I told her she couldn’t protect me. She told me I hadn't had that many good games. I said, “So you think you're putting pressure on me because I'm really under pressure.” A little back and forth. It's playoffs, man. We'll talk a little.

“We’ll be cool again when we’re done playing.”
