Rumor has it that Jacksonville is on the verge of mutiny before the Bears face off

The Chicago Bears took care of business against the Los Angeles Rams. Now they have two games left before the bye week. First up is the Carolina Panthers, who are 1-3 and dealing with a number of injuries on defense. The Bears get it at home, where they have won seven straight. The bigger story, however, is their opponent afterward. Heading into 2024, the Jacksonville Jaguars were widely viewed as a likely playoff team. They just paid star quarterback Trevor Lawrence and had Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson to help.

As is often the case, what you see on paper is not what you see in reality. There is something seriously wrong with the Jaguars' foundation. They are 0-4 to start the season and have lost nine of their last 10 games dating to 2023. It would be one thing if the team just had problems. But recent reports suggest the problems go much deeper. Insider Jordan Schultz shed some light on this during an appearance on the Sharp Football Show, where he pointed out that Pederson has completely lost the locker room.

The Chicago Bears could take advantage of that.

While Jacksonville may be a talented team, they are also a leaderless team. It feels like they haven't been quite the same since the 34-31 overtime loss to Cincinnati last year. It was particularly brutal because they had lost Lawrence to injury in that game and then had the ball in Bengals territory in overtime, only to have it disappear again with untimely errors. Then a drive by Cincinnati backup Jake Browning resulted in the decisive field goal. A week later, Lawrence threw three interceptions in a 31-27 loss to Cleveland. After that it went downhill.

If there's one thing the Chicago Bears have been good at in recent years, it's throwing teams out when they're down. Their losses to Washington and Las Vegas last year contributed significantly to both Ron Rivera and Josh McDaniels being fired. Later in the year, they did the same with the Atlanta Falcons, who released Arthur Smith shortly thereafter. When this team senses that a head coach is in danger of losing his job, it resorts to knockout. Don't be surprised if this happens in London.
