YG was arrested for driving under the influence as lawyer promises to deny the allegations

California rapper YG was arrested in California on Tuesday on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The Burbank City Jail confirmed to PEOPLE that YG, born Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, was charged with driving under the influence on October 1. TMZ was the first to report this, and numerous media outlets, citing police, reported that the rapper was handcuffed after police spotted him standing outside his car and said he had hit a curb.

“We will deny the allegations, and they are just that – mere allegations,” the “Who Do You Love?” The rapper’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, told PEOPLE when reached for comment.

YG was previously arrested for robbery in 2020, just days before his performance at the Grammy Awards. He was also charged in a 2018 robbery in which a man's necklace was stolen at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Both cases were dismissed in 2022, with YG settling out of court with the latter victim.

On August 15, YG dropped its third episode Just Re'd Up Mixtape series. The 19-track project featured longtime collaborators DJ Mustard, Saweetie, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty and more.
