Xfinity failure hits Lowcountry; For some, restoration is expected until late evening

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Xfinity is experiencing outages across the Lowcountry, according to its internet service outage map.

The map shows several customers in Charleston, North Charleston and Mount Pleasant are experiencing outages. Estimated recovery time is approximately 11:25 p.m. According to Xfinity's outage details, channels, TV, on-demand and internet are among those affected.

“Customers in the greater Charleston area may experience outages due to a fiber outage in the area,” a Comast spokesperson said in a statement. “Comcast teams are working diligently to get customers back online as quickly as possible, and we thank the community for their patience.”

It is unclear what caused the service outage. However, an internet service provider's tracking website, Downdetector, shows that Xfinity has seen an increase in reported outages since Tuesday evening.
