Is Moo Deng losing her charm after video of biting incident leaked?

Moo Deng, the pygmy hippopotamus who has millions of online followers, may be developing a problematic reputation.

In late September, a video emerged showing Moo Deng aggressively biting her caretaker while he tried to hose her down in her enclosure. The video, uploaded to a fansite, quickly reached over 6 million views and was met with mixed reactions from fans.

One viewer described the hippopotamus as “kind of mean,” while another commented: “The little girl always chooses violence.” Although she is known for her cuteness and playfulness, the incident sparked debate about her temperament.

Zoo staff expressed concerns about the impact Moo Deng's fame is having on both the animal and visitors. Some fans, desperate to get her attention for the perfect snap, have reportedly thrown objects at her or sprayed her with water, which has contributed to increased stress for the young hippo.

Moo Deng's fame even reached the stage of “Saturday Night Live,” where she was featured in a Weekend Update segment.

However, this latest video has raised concerns about whether her viral fame could be in jeopardy as she becomes known for more than just her adorable antics.
