Shooting near the Israeli embassy in Stockholm: No injuries were reported

According to local media reports on Tuesday, a shooting occurred outside the Israeli embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.

All embassy staff were safe and no injuries were reported. Although authorities did not provide any details about the incident, many police vehicles were spotted at the scene.

At least ten police vehicles were on site, police blocked the area and searched for evidence. During the search, a gun and an empty ammunition box were found.

Security at the Israeli embassy in Stockholm has been tightened several times this year after attempted attacks, including a shootout nearby and the discovery of a suspicious object.

In two cases, young people were arrested while armed with weapons while sitting in a taxi on the way to the embassy. One of them was sentenced to 11 months in prison in May after he was caught with a gun and gloves and claimed he received instructions via chat.

Security for Jewish interests

Since the war between Israel and Hamas began last fall, Stockholm police have increased security measures to improve the protection of Israeli and Jewish interests throughout Sweden. They work closely with security services, other authorities and representatives of the Jewish community.

Last May, shots were fired near the Israeli embassy in Stockholm and several people were subsequently arrested. At the same time, in France, a gunman was shot dead after attempting to set fire to a synagogue in the city of Rouen. “I praise the responsibility and courage of the police,” Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin wrote on Firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident.

The Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem said that “an unusual incident is being investigated at the Israeli embassy in Sweden.” It was emphasized that all embassy staff were safe and unharmed.
