A fatal crash in Butler County claims the life of a 38-year-old Poplar Bluff woman

On October 1, 2024 at 9:15 p.m., a two-vehicle fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 53 and Highway 142 in Butler County, Missouri. The accident involved a 1987 Chrysler 5th Avenue and a 2022 Kia Carnival.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when the Chrysler, driven by 38-year-old Shanea L. Brown of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, entered the intersection and collided sideways with the Kia, driven by the 32-year-old became. senior Heather L. Massie, also of Poplar Bluff.

Shanea L. Brown, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center by Dr. Raymond Ketting fatally injured and pronounced dead. Heather L. Massie, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Butler County EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene by Extreme Towing and Chaffin's Towing.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Sergeant BL Riefle, Corporal CE Leach, Trooper BT Hart and MCIU Sergeant JM Weadon.
