Man accused of strangling his mother – then calls 911 to say what he did

A 27-year-old man in Rhode Island reportedly strangled his mother and then called 911 to confess that he had killed her.

According to NBC 10 WJAR, Bryan Wilson is suspected of killing his mother, Hawazoe Robinson, on Monday. Wilson appeared in Washington County District Court on Tuesday where he was charged with second-degree domestic murder and violating a no-contact order.

Narragansett police were called to Robinson's home Monday afternoon to conduct a wellness check. As they responded to the home, Wilson allegedly called 911 to confess to the murder.

He reportedly told 911 dispatchers that he and his mother had gotten into an argument and that he had suffocated her.

A neighbor told NBC 10 reporters that police had previously been called to the home for calls related to Robinson's son.

He was arrested in 2023 and charged with simple domestic violence. His mother was also a victim of this attack.

Wilson is being held without bail. According to WPRI, his case was referred to a grand jury. Wilson's next court date is scheduled for October 9.

According to a neighbor who spoke to NBC 10, Robinson is believed to have converted a building on property she inherited from her father in Liberia into a free Christian school for needy children.

Neighbors who spoke to the station said she had often been to Africa and knew her to be friendly.
