Govinda shooting: Mumbai crime branch launches parallel investigation, hits actor; Revolver confiscated

A day after Govinda suffered a leg injury when his revolver was “accidentally discharged”, the officer from the Mumbai Crime Branch, which has also launched a parallel probe into the incident, met the actor on Wednesday.

The Criminal Investigation Department's investigation is ongoing while local police investigate the case.

However, News18, citing sources, reported that while police have ruled out a crime, they are not completely convinced by the story.

The report also said that Govinda informed police that the 20-year-old revolver was unlocked at the time of the incident and that it misfired while being cleaned.

Meanwhile, the police said that no one has filed a complaint in the matter so far.

The actor owns a licensed Webley revolver, which was seized by police officials for further investigation, PTI quoted an official as saying.

The incident took place on Tuesday at the actor's Mumbai residence as he was preparing to board a flight to Kolkata.

The 60-year-old actor underwent surgery to remove a bullet that hit him near his left knee and is currently recovering in a private hospital.

Govinda's wife Sunita said that the actor is doing better and will be discharged day after tomorrow.

“With everyone's blessings, he has recovered… He has a huge fan base so people are praying for him… I want to tell fans not to panic, he is fine,” she said.

Actress Raveena Tandon and other celebrities also visited the actor.

“He looked better. He is recovering. I wish him a speedy recovery,” shared Raveena.

Politician Kripa Shankar Singh also met Govinda.

“He's fine. Thank you to the doctors who took care of him. He will be released soon,” Kripa Shankar told the media after meeting the actor.

On Tuesday, veteran actor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shatrughan Sinha called on Bollywood star Govinda.
