Woman created fake videos claiming she was kidnapped and raped to extort money from a man she met online

A woman has faked videos claiming she was kidnapped and raped to extort money from a man she met online.

Elisa Timbers, 21, demanded £200 from a man she met on Snapchat, claiming she was held captive and sexually abused.

Norwich Magistrates Court was told she even made videos purporting to show her being held hostage.

The care assistant was caught when officers visited her home and found her fine after the victim contacted police about the disturbing claims.

She initially told police that her Snapchat account had been hacked, but later admitted to sending the messages, claiming she was forced to do so.

Timbers, of Norwich, Norfolk, pleaded guilty at Norwich Magistrates' Court on October 1 to fraud by false representation between June 26 and 29 last year.

Asif Akram, prosecuting, said Timbers started exchanging messages on Snapchat after meeting someone online.

But days later, the victim contacted police after receiving threatening messages containing lurid and disturbing claims.

Timbers said she fell victim to a perpetrator named “Chris” and demanded that he send her cash.

Mr Akram said: “She had control of the Snapchat accounts at the time.”

Emma Lloyd, mitigating, said that while her actions were “unflattering to say the least”, Timbers was “young and extremely vulnerable”.

She added that Timbers was “afraid” of another man she met online who was the driving force behind her blackmail attempt.

Ms Lloyd added: 'She had started talking to a man called 'Chris' but it was becoming increasingly unpleasant. He told her what to say and how to say it.

“No cash was sent, but if there had been she would never have seen any of it.”

The judges ordered pre-sentence reports until November 23rd.

They told Timbers that all options were open.
