Pensioner in life-threatening condition after incident in supermarket

A pensioner is in life-threatening condition after an incident at the supermarket.

Paramedics were called to Morrisons in Totton this morning following a medical incident.

A man in his 70s was taken to Southampton General Hospital in a life-threatening condition.

The incident sparked a major emergency response involving crews from the South Central Ambulance Service, police officers and a rescue aircraft.

A spokesman for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance said: “The rescue helicopter carrying a doctor and a specialist paramedic was dispatched to an incident in Southampton on Wednesday.

“Following treatment at the scene, a patient was transported to hospital by ambulance for further treatment, with the air ambulance team traveling with the patient.”
